Isn't it just the cutest!

No room to pull off and get a good shot....this was just a quick snap from the car.

Peddler's wagon...

This peddler's wagon was at Fowler Park, near Terre Haute, Indiana.

One of the last iris blooms...

I am not sure if this is the same color or if it is a lighter version of the one seen here.... the one in the link has stopped blooming.  And this is definitely lighter than the other one...it is not just the camera not taking it right.

From a Walmart wall

I thought this was a regular mural, but someone that worked there said it was painted on something and then applied to the wall.  Still it is good, I think.

Not a partridge in a pear tree....

But it is a Northern Bobwhite in a tree.  It is my first time seeing one in a tree.  This was out at the strip pit area.  They were calling everywhere we went, but this was the only one we actually saw.  He was at the edge of the road headed into the grass.  I could not believe my luck when it flew up into the tree.

Such handsome fellows!

This guy was with his lady love, but unfortunately I could not capture her.  And even if I could she was out in the plowed field and blended right in.

Another handsome bird.

This makes three or four times I have driven through and seen some.  For several years we hardly ever drove through the strip pit area without at least seeing  one or two.  But the past 2 or 3 years, they have been few and far between.

Better than going to the movies....

Driving through the strip pit area late in the evening is better than almost any form of entertainment.

It is funny how quickly they change...

I had to show two versions of this one...

I almost always convert cloud pictures to B&W just to see what they look like.  And truthfully, probably prefer them that way.

Okay this set is my last for the night...

Favorite

This is one of my favorite little flowers that grows wild along the edges of roads in some places.   It is Bird's foot trefoil.

The companion of yesterday's post....

She was one of the companions of the rooster I showed yesterday.  I love photographing chickens...so much variety.

Today, not so cute

He actually reminds me of someone...actually two people but I won't say their name.

My clematis

I took this with my phone, which takes excellent photos as long as things are still.  There was a slight breeze so was surprised it was as good as it was.  But it could be better.

Allium--from today

These were taken this morning with my phone.  I have wanted Alliums for a long time and finally got some last fall.  Then, this spring we have had several pretty hard frosts, but still they have survived.

In the midday sun....

I love poppies and do not have one decent photo of them.  So I offer this one.

Coming soon...

Though it has felt almost like winter here today, next week temps are supposed to be above normal.  Maybe before long we will be seeing more bees, butterflies, and such.

Barn, home, studio???

I really think it is a home, but I sure would like to take a tour, no matter which it is.

I know this is south and east of here...wish I could find it again.

Porch buddy...

This is from several years ago...one that used to come up on our back porch.  It only had three steps to come up.

Farm house gone...

We passed  this farm last week.  In this photo I am driving east.  The other day I was coming from the east...so did not realize till we got past the barn that the farm house was gone.  There was a pile of rubble in its place.  My heart just sank...I just so hate that it is gone.

It's another strip pit sunset...

I am seldom out at the strip pits at sunset these days, but used to we were out there quite often.  It was always like watching a great big slide show.  Moment by moment the scenes unfolded.

ID?

There were a lot of these in the woods near the lake...I took several pics and this is the only one that is half decent.  Does anyone know what it is?   I would love to go back and see how they develop.

Edited to add that John  has identified this as Pussytoes...so thankful to him.  I had no idea.

Colorful...

We went for a little drive today...when I stepped out of the car, this is the first thing I saw.  I love all the shapes and colors that fungi take.

From a country drive continued....

I thought it was really nice that these were planted by the electric pole...they were quite a distance from the house.

Will include the close up view of one.

From a country drive...

I used to see this collie near a covered bridge we used to visit.  It was a beauty.

Rich

Every time I see all these spools of King Tut thread, I feel rich.  I love the variegated colors.

The kids got me a variety a couple years ago as part of my birthday.  I have used some of it...and I don't think this is all I have left.  They are just what I grabbed.

I found a use for empty spools...I wrap leftover binding on them.
