From the land of Lincoln

This is another shot from my last drive over in Illinois...it might not appeal to you but it does to me. I am not sure why...probably the sky has a lot to do with it.

Maintenance required

So many barns need a little bit of maintenance...I always wonder why they don't get it. I always wonder is the money it would take a factor, or is it just a matter of having the time to get to the job. Probably some of both.

Coming into the valley

This is the back way to Bridgeton, Indiana. This weekend is the end of the Covered Bridge Festival for another year. If I had been there today it would have been impossible to stop and take a picture...it is dangerous enough normal times cause it is taken from the crest of the hill and no room to pull off. Today there would be a constant stream of traffic....over a million people come to Parke County each year for the festival. Along every road leading into Parke County, there are yard sales, and every little town has stuff going on, but Bridgeton and Mansfield probably have the most vendors.

Pleasant pond

Actually this is a strip pit...we were out there a couple weeks ago. I walked along the edge of this one. There were tons of little frogs--not the teeny tiny ones, but ones about an inch and a half long. They had had time to grow just a little bit. I wonder will they all survive the winter. They were so quick I could not capture even a blurred photo of one.

An inviting porch....

This would be a fun place to sit and watch the time roll by...it is in Parke County, Indiana.
If they were mine I would have the swings positioned facing each other...still on opposite ends. Till I could swing and not have to worry about hitting the wall behind me. But I would not complain too much if I had to have them the way they are now.

Somewhere in Indiana

I think this was taken in Parke County, but I am not sure. I really need to get one of those geotaggers till I can find places again. There are several I would like to go back to in different seasons but now, though I may know the general area I could drive all day and not find the spot I want.

The milkweed bug

Again, taken out at the strip pits. If I had been posting the bottom picture by itself, I was going to title it Little Beady Eyes...but since I am posting both, I just called them what they are.

Midwest sky

This was taken in Parke County, Indiana--not to far from Bridgeton. I love this sky.

Autumn butterfly.....

This was taken out at the strip pit area...one of the few remaining butterflies.

From the Boys & Girls Club

I finally got to snap a shot of this mural that is on the side of the building housing the Boys & Girls Club in Terre Haute. It has been there for a while, yet this is the first time I have photographed it.

Looking up the Big Raccoon....

This was taken Saturday evening...looking up the Big Raccoon Creek. We were passing through Bridgeton, Indiana. It had rained in the morning, then it started to clear up. Just before we got here, it had rained a few drops...then the clouds cleared up and was full of fluffy clouds...

This picture is above the dam; when our girls were young that was a big sand bar on the left. We spent lots of afternoons fishing here and letting the girls play. Roger and I always waded and fished, and the girls played and sometimes fished.

My first entry for the barn meme

Tricia over at Bluff Area Daily has started a new meme for Old Barns...
This is my first entry for it....I have had other photos of this barn...it is another one that fascinates me.
This last one is sort of dark, but hope you can see it in its entirety.

If you want to join the meme, click here for the information or to join or just to visit the meme...this is one meme I think I am going to love!

From Illinois again...

Another farm over in Illinois....notice the roof in the top picture. It has a strange little section that is higher than the rest.
The barn is is a nice one...I would love to see inside....also love the little building in front of it. I wonder what it is used for...actually wonder what the building in the other photo is for, too.

New use for a bus

This is a drive-by shot...this is a cropped portion of the photo I took. I tried to think of a good title and am too tired to think of anything...tell me what you would have titled this post. I know there is a better one than the one I give it.
