Indiana autumn scene...which version do you prefer

I have played with two of these photos and the other is just a scaled down version of the original.
I wonder which you like best and why?
The top one is the original. It was taken around 8:00 a.m. on October 22.

A barn and bright blue sky...

Don't you just love a brilliant blue sky as a background sometimes?

Ruby Tuesday Christmas Stocking

I featured photos from a shop in Nashville, Indiana earlier....this was taken at the same shop on the same day. I know it is early, but if I don't post it now, I am afraid I will forget it and I think it is wonderful!

Oak leaves

This is from early fall...and this is how many of the leaves were doing before the rain. They would start to change color and as they changed, they would also turn brown.

A not so wild blue heron

This evening, we re-traced a short part of our drive the other day.
We came around the curve down in this low place in the road--a place you just know is flooded when it rains very much at all--and there was this blue heron. And he did not seem to be near as scared as most are. I was probably only 15-20 feet from it...I didn't attempt to get out of the car though.

When leaving the strip pits

Sometimes when we leave the strip pits, we take a road that passes this place. I just had to stop yesterday and take pictures of this tree.

Strip pits sky

I haven't posted any sky photos from the strip pits in a while...I took these just a week or two ago.
It seems any time I am out there, even if the sky doesn't have a single cloud in it when I first go, if I stay till sunset it will be spectacular. I try to restrain myself and not take more, but I can never completely stop.

A barn and a view

It was really too late to go for a drive for photos by the time I got home today, but we took a quick little detour. I didn't think this was too bad for the time of day. If it isn't raining early in the morn, we are going to head out to try to capture a few beauties. The trees are unbelievably beautiful.

Sepia Scenes

I took this the last day of September...and the minute I saw it on the computer I knew it was perfect for Sepia.
Look at the original below...doesn't it seem like it is sepia toned already.
As I was looking at this I got the bright idea to just sepia tone the sky, and leave the rest as it was taken.
If you would like to joing this meme, or see other photos that have been redone in sepia, go to Mary T's Sepia Scene blogspot.

Ruby Tuesday

I so often post barns for Ruby Tuesday, that I was sitting thinking I had to do a change of pace. I looked down and seen this pen laying beside my computer. Pens and paper are two of my favorite things...I have a real hard time passing by school supplies without buying something.

October's bright blue weather

Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885)

October's Bright Blue Weather

O SUNS and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October's bright blue weather;

When loud the bumble-bee makes haste,
Belated, thriftless vagrant,
And Golden-Rod is dying fast,
And lanes with grapes are fragrant;

When Gentians roll their fringes tight
To save them for the morning,
And chestnuts fall from satin burrs
Without a sound of warning;

When on the ground red apples lie
In piles like jewels shining,
And redder still on old stone walls
Are leaves of woodbine twining;

When all the lovely wayside things
Their white-winged seeds are sowing,
And in the fields, still green and fair,
Late aftermaths are growing;

When springs run low, and on the brooks,
In idle golden freighting,
Bright leaves sink noiseless in the hush
Of woods, for winter waiting;

When comrades seek sweet country haunts,
By twos and twos together,
And count like misers, hour by hour,
October's bright blue weather.

O suns and skies and flowers of June,
Count all your boasts together,
Love loveth best of all the year
October's bright blue weather.

Through the covered bridge....

I tend to like almost any photo if it is taken looking through something. Even the most boring subject takes on a bit of interest if it is seen through a door or window.

Autumn reflections

I love the reflections in this calm water....so peaceful. It really is better if enlarged.

Autumn splendor

"October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing
Professor Wind the band."

- George Cooper, October's Party

Straight from the camera autumn glory

I love the colors of these leaves...this shot is straight from the camera, other than adding my copyright. Sassafras leaves almost always have wonderful color.

A wonderful barn in Parke County Indiana/Sepia Scenes

I am giving both the view in sepia as well as the original. I probably like the sepia view best. But the original sure isn't bad.
This one is so well maintained...it looks as if will be standing when I am long gone.

If you want to see more scenes in sepia, or to join the meme, click on the badge at the top of this post.

Mellow Yellow in a quilt

I should have joined the Mellow Yellow meme when I first heard about it...simply because I do love yellow. A whole lot of my quilt/quilt tops have yellow in them. This is a section of a baby quilt I made and finished in March of 2006. I did free motion quilting with my Pfaff sewing machine.

If you want to join with your mellow yellow shots, or just see more photos with yellow....click on the badge below.

Late showing....

As cool as the weather is, I cannot help but wonder how much longer we will have flowers of any kind. I could not help but pause to capture this the other day.

Smile for the camera!

As we were leaving Nashville, this little critter hopped upon a sign. Roger paused while I snapped this picture. If I can remember in the morning, I am going to join Camera Critters....it is a fun meme where everyone posts some of their critter captures. It can be a pet, it can be wildlife....what ever you choose. If you wish to join, just click on Camera Critters.

Smiling faces!

This was taken at a shop in Nashville, Indiana. I cropped a portion of this to use as the header photo on my other blog, Pics and Pieces. And a couple other pictures from the same shop are featured there.
