Coneflowers

When we went fishing the other day, we first stopped and fished the tail waters of the dam...it is run by our Dept. of Natural Resources. They have put up a small playground there, and there are a couple decks they have built to fish from.

Then there is the other side of the road...it is grown up in weeds and grass....and these pink coneflowers were scattered all through it. I wonder were the seeds scattered by man or by birds.

I just wanna fly...all around the world....

No, it really isn't a fly...it really seems like a cross between a fly and a bee. I suppose it is some kind of sweat bee.

In a soft light...

I was at first disappointed that this was not more in focus, but when I looked again later, I decided I liked the softness of it.

Too many strong winds....

Another barn that is slowly falling apart. The strong winds we have here in the midwest is hard on some of the old buildings....

Barn Charm entry

The top is a drive-by--from the looks of the corn it must have been a drive-by slowly.
I think this barn was in Mungo, Indiana...south and east of Shipshewana...or at least east. Not sure about the south part. I like the evening light flickering on it.
And this one is from somewhere there close to Shipshewana...I suggest that you click and enlarge it to see it better. There is a horse with a wagon over at the barn....

I so wish I had a variety of views of these barns, but I don't. I just love to see close-ups of barn features or just different angles....but sometimes it is impossible to get them.

This is my entry for Tricia's Barn Charm meme.

Looks like a bad hair day to me...

This was blowing in the wind and the sun in the wrong position...but I still like it.

The Man(tis) in the Mirror

I thought about titling this Walk this Way! I just think it is funny to think of it walking with those long legs....but then the reflection the window is as good as a mirror...so that is the title I settled on.
I chose the top because of the reflection, but liked the angle of his head better in the bottom photo. This was taken September 21 at the strip pits.

The three amigos

There were several calves out at the strip pits the other day. Some were curious, while others ignored us.

Like looking at sunshine...

Out at the strip pits the other day, there were so many of these yellow flowers. It was windy, so not many insects were about. I considered myself lucky to get this capture.

More barns from Northern Indiana

I thought for this week I would show more barns from .our drives around Shipshewana, and Howe, Indiana...
as you can see, some of them are drive-by shots...
I think most of them are from Amish farms.
This last one is not, however. I know it was south a little and east of Howe, Indiana.
I would love to have been able to take several different views of these barns but was lucky to get the single view of most of them.

This is my entry for Tricia's Barn Charm meme...hope to see you there.

Looks like bad weather....

Taken in Terre Huate last Saturday, September 10, 2011...and thought you might need a little help to realize the title is a song reference so I provided the video below.

Add-on to add-on

I think this is an Amish home...can't help but wonder how many people live here. It looks as if it has had a couple additions. I like how everything is so neat and well groomed.

Fields of gold....

This is old. It has been published more than once...or one very similar to it. I just fall in love with the set of photos it came from every time I run across them. Remember, it does enlarge.

Smiling face from near Perrysville, Indiana

This is on a road that goes north on the east side of the Wabash River....not sure what the road is called but every time we are near it, I have Roger take it. I love this house...just the feel of it. Always so much of interest. It is a well loved home.

Come rest a bit in my shade....

A couple drive-by-slowly barn shots....I think these were still in Illinois. They were taken last week.
I don't think there is much that is more inviting than a barn yard, specially a shady one.

P for Purdue???

I really don't know if this 'P' stands for Purdue University or not...but it is the first thing I think of when I see a big P anywhere.
These are drive-by shots of course...as you can tell by the bottom photo especially.

Big Pine Creek

This is north of us, probably an hour's drive if we went straight there. I could get no good place to take a shot...this was a hurried shot from a bridge...it was too dangerous to pause more than a few seconds.

A riot of color...

On a drive the other day, we passed this at someone's home. Lucky for me, it was in the edge of their yard. I love these random spots of color.

For Barn Charm

For Barn Charm this week i am showing several views of the same barn taken over in Illinois....
they were all taken during the middle of the day and not under even half good lighting...specially that first one up there. I hit the auto levels in Photoshop elements and it helped a lot.
The last two here, was a bit better......
wonder how old it is to have a shake roof?

I have a question for those of you who comment...how do you feel about the same person entering more than one blog in the meme? I have so many photos of barns, but feel guilty entering more than one blog though I have done it a time or two. I don't know why I feel guilty cause I enjoy all the barns that are shown, no matter if they are shown by different people or if the same person was to enter them.

Anyway, this is my entry to Tricia's Barn Charm Meme...

Elderberries....

This was not the shot I intended to take but where I was at it was what I could grab....and I kind of like it. They are elderberries...they grow wild around here...

Do you or like it or not?

This was really eye catching in person, but we were on a busy road and though Roger tried to pause, I did/could not get a good angle. I am not even crazy about the photo, maybe because I remember how my heart skipped a beat when I saw the actual scene. This only gives a hint of how beautiful it was.
