The past few weeks I have had things going on till I knew even if I submitted a photo to Friday's fences, I wouldn't get to visit everyone else so just didn't bother to join. This week should be different so here I am again. In one of our drives we came across this...it is what remains of a fence. It had been a fine fence...there were more of these posts.

It must have been a fine farm in its day. Now I cannot even remember what else was there.

awww. that's rather sad. someone put a lot of work and money into those posts.
Very nice posts. Must have been something special there once upon a time.....a fine house?
I'm with Mary. The posts remind me of the kind you'd see on a fence around a house. It must have been a stately house too.
well, that is an interesting pole. What happened with the fance?
These are very unusual fence posts - what a great find :))
There was a lot of work in that old fence at one time! Love the concrete finial on the top! Great find!
this is not at all what I would expect to find at the entrance to a farm!
and I was wondering where you were... nice to see you back.
looks very touch looking. & strong. (:
beautiful!
I would love to see this in it's hay day! Nice find!
Those had to be quite expensive... People used to care more, they used to put more WORK into their property... sadly, not anymore.
I think you got some great shots of this ol beautiful relic. =)
It must have been a fine fence!!!
I look at the texture of the concrete, and it reminds me of a couple of bridges from back home - much older than I am. Have you seen that sort of concrete anywhere else?
What a great find Rose.
That second shot is very dramatic-the way it dominates. And I am wondering what the crop might be.
If only we could take snapshots into the past to see what this lovely fence surrounded! I'll bet there was a fancy house. As to your thought of following fall south, we have done that several times. Last year we spent October in the Northeast, and this year we're spending the first couple of weeks of October in the Pacific Northwest. It gives us a little bit more warm weather before facing the reality of winter.
I love these! I bet it really was an amazing fence when it was new.
I bet someone paid dearly for those posts a long time ago.
Great remains and what was probably a great fence!!
Fantastic fence posts!
