Barn Charm from Tennessee

I thought I would show you the barn from the farm Roger and I lived on for a short while early in our marriage. We pass by the old corn crib on the way to the barn....
Ain't it a beauty!  Roger thinks that tree is actually helping to keep the barn from leaning.
When we lived there, I don't think the tree was any taller than the barn, if as tall.
And the barn did not have any boards missing...I have no idea how old it is.  I think it had been there as long as our family lived there.  This farm used to belong to my grandfather on my dad's side of the family.

In all the years I have seen this place I once called home, I have never seen it as grown up as it is now.  When we were kids, the people that owned it by lived in Michigan and only came down about once a year.  They paid us to keep the yard mowed...

LOVE the road to the barn! You picked the right time of the year to go. I'm glad the barn is standing for you to still enjoy.
I hope you looked for a missing board lying around and took it with you. :)
Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory with us.

What a lovely place. I love the dirt road and how it's covered in fall leaves in the first photo.

It is a beauty--even with the missing boards--gives it character!

Isn't that beautiful, esp w/ the fall colored tree! Love the barn & that rusty roof!
People don't know what work is, today, or taking pride in taking care of something... too bad the place is falling apart, so sorry, Rose!

Beautiful photos of this old barn. I like the shape of the roof line and the beautiful maple tree 'holding' it up. It's sad that the property is all grown up. Pamela

It's so pretty! I love the big tree, I think it probably is helping hold it up.

Just beautiful!! The barn is lovely as well as the setting. I think Roger is probably right about the tree holding the barn up. It must have made you a bit sad to see it so run down.

This all makes for a very pleasant looking scene - though I am sure your memories are getting a bit of a shake up by the changes.

The barn is really amazing, especially fanked by that gold tree. What an idyllic setting. :)

A very charming barn and with memories to make it more special. That first photo looks like it could be given some sort of "treatment" to make it look like an impressionist painting with the right program. Very soft looking already. I like it!

A fine series of this attractive barn. The post is made better to learn that this barn is part of your family history. Very interesting post.

ps thank you for the comment about my camera... i can't believe people resort to stealing like that & have the audacity to pilfer thru someone's belongings while they lay asleep just feet away... it's beyond me! Lock up everything you own, everyday... I'm working on getting in the habit of that, now! =)

Beautiful. Sweet memories. We lived next to a farm growing up. My mom still lives there. I have photos of the silos in family pictures from 1959. We took our family pictures at Thanksgiving in front of them this past year. The farmer died and his daughter came down from up north and tore them down this summer. I miss them.

I love the shape of the barn...but not the shape it's in. Makes a super photo op, though!
