Looks like an antique oil or kerosine can Rose. I think we have one around here I got somewhere.
Hubby is asleep. I'll ask him tomorrow.
The piano stool is just like one that I remember from a friends house growing up complete with the claw foot. When I talk to her I'll have to ask if anyone in her family still has it. I can even remember my Mom sitting on it.
Don't know what it is but I sure love the piano stool.
i agree, it is for kerosene oil and also used to put water in the old cars. great old piano stool, love the glass balls and claws
You happened upon some very interesting items at the flea market. The pitcher's style of construction makes it very puzzling.
I think it is a kerosene container. They could pour it into the lamp or whatever easier. Awesome find!
I asked Hubby and he says it is an oil can used by the railroad - hence the Wabash Railway insignia.
He says they poured oil into the boxes on the side where the rods on the wheels come in and out. Says later a McCoy oiler was used and he's not sure what kind of cans those would have been.
