This is so stark, lean, and classic. And they are keeping it in good repair, YES!
Maybe a work room or maybe a tack room. Interesting. Nice barn and looks good in black and white.
My guess would be a tack room...but even tho my husband may disagree, I could be wrong.
The barn is white so I'm thinking this is an old dairy barn. I think many old dairy barns had small additions for equipment...but I could be wrong about that!

If that's a dairy barn, which it looks like to me, then the addition is a milk house. It's where the milk would be taken from the main barn to a cooler, stored until the milk man came to get it and take to the creamery - or a cheese plant.
This is a fine shot of this interesting barn. I like the patch work repair to the roof. The little addition is a mystery.
