I have been wanting to go up to Heron County Park, or as I call it the Heron Viewing Station. I would have like to see herons, but what I really wanted was to see the these! I have been wondering if lotus and water lilies are the same thing...thinking that they are. But according to my search, these are the lotus plants because the leaves and the flowers do not rest on the water.
It is impossible for me to get a photo of the whole area that does it justice. So I am zooming in.
They are just so beautiful...
I love them when all that is left is what I guess you would call the seed pod. In the fall it turns brown and you can shake it and hear the seeds rattle.
Here is one a little farther along..
I hope you have enjoyed these!

So stunning and unusual! I only rarely get to see these. I did not know the difference between Water Lily and Lotus, either. Now I know!! Your first and last picture are my favorites. SO AWESOME, I am LOVING this!!!!

Very cool... I feel like a visitor to our world when I see things like this. There is so much I haven't seen!

Lovely and breathtaking to see so many lotus flowers cover the area!
I have never seen a field of these before...only seen them floating on ponds. They are so gorgeous and so are the seed pods!
These are amazing pictures. Around here we have the water lilies, which are beautiful, but so are these.
The Lotus blossom is pretty, and that's a cool picture of the seed pod. Love all the detail you can see on the close up. Thanks for sharing, Rose.

Wow. I'd love to see THAT!! We have Water Lily and add more to the pond each year. We buy Lotus that are different than these and are annuals. But we do have a Lotus as seen here in your picture. We took it from a lake in Michigan. I never knew what it was. The flowers are white. I benefit so much from the knowledge you research!! lol.

WOW, Field of lotus. They don't grow here. Wonderful close ups.
