Sweet Hitchhiker....NOT

John caught the Creedence Clearwater Revival song title in the previous post...I often think in song titles or at the least lines from songs.  So this is another.

Grasshoppers don't creep me out or anything.  When we would walk to the barn or other places when I was kid, all sizes of grasshoppers were hopping every which way to avoid us.  And my nephew reminded me that when we were kids, we would fix a straight pin on a match stick, and use that in our B-B guns and shoot grasshoppers.

This is a great image of a grasshopper. I don't see that many that size around where I live but I used to like to catch them when I was little. Wonderful color and detail.

What a nice picture of the grasshopper, Rose. They are so strange looking - like little Martian faces and funky arms haha.

I differ greatly from you. I will do anything to avoid contact with a grasshopper. I have a similar picture, with him sitting on. the outside of the windshield.

What a great and detailed shot!! They somehow remind me of robots, don't know why!! They are just so mechanical looking.

Very cool image with good use of depth of field to blur the background.

They are really an interesting insect. They do look weird and the coloring and lines are mechanical. I am surprised he is hanging on there.

Excellent portrait of Jiminy Cricket!

I don't mind grasshoppers as long as they do not destroy my plants. I used to catch them when I was young.

What a great photo! It is not often we get a chance to take such a clear detailed photo of a grasshopper. Well done!

My first reaction to your image is the same as many who posted above. That's a fantastic image of your hitchhiker. Yes, I remember grasshoppers from when I was a kid, too. I especially remember them "spitting" when we would catch them.
