Volunteer...

This is my one and only sunflower....I meant to actually plant some this year and just did not get to it.

We always called anything that came from a random seed dropped by birds, etc a volunteer.

Rose, I think this is the pretties sunflower photo I've ever seen, really.
They're such an unusual flower....and beautiful.

I love sunflowers. I planted once but the flowers were not big like yours. Happy weekend.

For some reason it means more to me that it's a volunteer and all by itself. :)

It's pretty. I love sunflowers. When my husband was filling bird feeders, I always had these growing underneath them courtesty of the birds. They were small ones but they were pretty.

That is ONE of the prettiest volunteers I've ever seen. The photo really doesn't show the size, but it looks big.

"Volunteer" seems to be an American expression, though it is catching on here too. We always used to call them "self-sets", though I don't think I've ever had a sunflower appear by that means.

Which one of these would volunteer to grow in our yard I've never had a sunflower growing and I sure would love to have one because I love daisies and sunflowers those are my favorite flowers

So pretty and such happy flowers.
I would be happy if one of mine survive. Planted so many of them and the chipmunks dug them up. I saw a bird pecking at the little seedlings to though. Sunflowers here are still small and won't be blooming for quite a while yet.

Now I'm reminded of my mom! Thank you so much dearest Rose. This is my mom's favorite flower! And whenever I see one even through pictures or paintings, it reminds me that mom is with me :) Happy Weekend!

Volunteer seems to be an international thing. They are called that here as well.
Very nice shot.

A volunteer...I like that. I had one volunteer but it would not stand up straight so didn't get a good photo.
