I've never tried growing them, in fact I don't recall ever seeing them being grown. You certainly had a bumper harvest.
I like them a lot! You may be amused to know that my very first thought was they were Shmoos (Al Capp's Lil Abner back a zillion years ago)

Wow! You did get a lot of gourds. I have tried making bird houses with gourds. Cutting a hole and painting them. The birds have not been interested at all. I love the shapes!

That is an interesting photo, Rose. My Mom had a friend who had a gourd with Native American art painted on it. I always remember that when I see gourds. It was really creative and nice.
