Meet Jack the Ripper Sr. and Jack the Ripper, Jr. aka seam rippers. The one on the left is from the Clover company, and the one on the right seems to come standard with most sewing machines these days. If you will notice what I call the shaft--the longest prong...the one from Clover is thinner and better to get into a tiny stitch if you have to take them out singly.

I used to have one of these! I need to look for it.
I have one that looks like the one on the right. I have another one too that was included in a sewing box that my aunt gave me decades ago.
Boy howdy DO I know Jack. Well acquainted!!!
i have one of these in my sewing basket and have used it many time. I have had it since Home EcK in highschool. I ripped a lot of stiches back then. Mostly it is used to remove a button that is hanging loose so I can sew it back. no sewing, but is a handy gadget
Ha, you had me going with that title. They are handy tools to have.
Have a great day and happy week ahead.

Very handy tools! YAM xx
They both look a lot friendlier than the legendary Jack. :-)
The "Rippers " nicely photographed!! I love the cream one too, antway :))Looks less scary :)
Clever title! My aunt who quilted used these often.
I don't have one of those, and have used scissors many times to take out hems to resew at the proper length. Silly me. But they work.
The name made me laugh. Happy Silly Tuesday!
Terrific title...I was wondering what it was going to be about.
I used to have one of those too...I wonder where it went....
I usually use my scissors to do that work...now I need to go look for it.

Don't sew but if I did I'm sure I'd be using it often!! :)
I have a sewing machine set up and I used to make a lot of pillows. The seam ripper was my best friend. I can definitely see the difference and the Clover would definitely come in handy.
