I was actually meaning that soon we will be seeing killdeer nests in places they should not be. This one was in the road. But my second thought that soon after the photo there would be little killdeer.

they do nest n the most dangerous places! Parking lots and driveways. They seem to love gravel and rocky places. Is this near home, and will you be seeing the chicks?
I hope they survive being in the road! Interesting to see them in the gravel.

this is amazing to me, have never seen the killdeer egs. i do know that our preserves have signs that make us stay on the provided pathways because we can accidently destory the birds eggs...
Oh my, she built her nest in the road? When I was growing up, for years there was an empty lot next to our house. The Killdeer always built their nests in that lot. I always thought it was strange how they had their nests on the ground.

I have always wanted to see one of these birds. It is quite an interesting nest and the eggs are so pretty.
I love them even though they are a bit silly.
Yikes! That would seem to be an uncomfortable and unsafe nest for mom and chicks.
