From the yard....

It is just wonderful to see a bee...since I did not blog last summer let me explain.  I had two or three tomato plants in pots and also a couple cucumbers potted.  I had grown some the year before and enjoyed them.  Not quite like having a garden, but better than nothing.

Nothing got pollinated.  I saw one honeybee in my yard and that is all.  I am not exaggerating.  I would sit and watch for them, walk in the yard and look for them.  None.  Even my coneflowers did not have bees...I saw one type of bee one time.  Normally,  once they start blooming something was always on them.  Last year nothing.

So, no pollinators for my vegetables...after it was too late, I wondered if I could have taken a q-tip and pollinated them.

Great close-up! We've been doing the Q-tip a lot lately.

The drop in pollinators is a big concern - for more than just one's own tomato crop. Yes, QTip would work - but it's nothing like watching the busiest of bees about their best work!!! YAM xx

We've had far fewer bees so far this year--- THe mason bees usually make little homes in our siding by the front door, and so far--- none.

Hmm, wonder why there were no bees. I would love to have a garden and all those fresh vegies but I hate all the work involved.

All your bees must have come to visit us. We had so many at times we couldn't sit on the porch.

Your flower is lovely with the bee on it.
I'm going to try growing a tomato plant in a pot so I can move it around to keep it in the sun. Just can't have a garden, not enough sun in our woods.

Like others have said..we haven't seen many bees either. Our fruit trees had blossoms but we are not seeing fruit forming, which we should begin seeing by now. Its a sad state of affairs when the bees are dying off.
Great photo
Enjoy your weekend.

I wonder if someone is spraying their yards and crops with insecticide. That would be deadly to bees. Also, they can get diseases and parasites.

I hope the bees return. Beautiful photography...

Happy Mother's Day to you too.
Hugs,
Julia

Like you, I took a break and am not posting every day but just when I have something I want to share or when I have time. Good to see you back when ever you can post. We have a few bees. It's sad, because we need them.

Hello,
I hope your bees return. It is scary not to see the bees around your flowers.
We need the pollinators. Take care, have a happy weekend.

I didn't see many bees in the garden last year, and my tomatoes did not grow. I hope that your honey bee is a good sign of things to come.

Beautiful! I don't see many honey bees, but we have lots of wasps. A friend of ours has hives, so there are plenty of honey bees at their house. We always get a jar of honey for Christmas. Hope you are doing well. I haven't been blogging much the last few years, but missed it, so trying to take time to visit.
