i like the vinery on the tree cross. the roses/poppies are interesting, too.
Never saw one like this, too. Very unique. I'm trying to decide if I like it or not.

Different, but I like it. It looks like a wreath on the cross to me.
A cross to look like a tree. Mary must have been a nature lover. It's perfect, tho as you say, unique.
Looking around in an old cemetery is always a learning experience. But, I must say when I first looked at the photo I thought a snake was wound around the neck of the cross and snakes and I aren't on a first name basis. After looking further, the roses are beautiful and unique. :-)

Was there a verse on it? What years did she live? I heard once that this stone used to be inexpensive, which is why so many of these older headstones are elaborate.

Very unique and ornate. In the older section of our cemetery there are some pretty fancy grave stones. I should go photograph them someday.
