We had to go around this guy the other morning...or one of his comrads....
I almost forgot about them, and accidentally turned down the wrong street...then I thought, 'YES! I can take the side street over and see if they are still there.
None of these photos show it...
there were nine of them. Some of them was walking up past the house on the other side of the house.
They were eating a dead squirrel...it was out in the road when I had to go around the first turkey vulture...but they had pulled it up on the grass....and the one is eating while the other looks on.

We have a whole lot of them, they have invaded our city. Your pictures are great! It looks like the one is protecting the other. They are nature's cleanup crew.
Once in a while I'll see 6 to 8 of them circling our neighborhood. Nature's clean up crew for sure.
Whenever I see vultures, I know something is dead.
Wonderful photos. It almost looks like they are posing for you in a couple of them. They have to be one of the most ugly birds I have ever seen.

Forgot to answer your question about the rhubarb. Yes, you can eat it raw but it is VERY tart. The leaves are poison though.
