Black barn...

A barn from October, from over in Illinois.  Of barn colors, black is my least favorite color.  I don't know what my favorite color would be.  Probably either unpainted or red.

I have never seen a black barn, but this one really made a nice picture!

We have a black one kind of like this nearby. It sure is noticeable! At least this one is in good shape.

I'm with you, either red or unpainted.

There are lots of black barns here. Traditionally they used the same sort of tar as was used on ships to waterproof the timbers. As a result they survived for centuries - unless they caught fire, which they frequently did. I like the red barns that you show us; I think they are painted with what we used to call "red oxide", which my father used on the little house where I was brought up.

I've never seen a black one either... Natural wood is best, but I have seen white ones that were nice.

I don't know if there are any black barns around here. I know there are a lot of plain ones that are just weathered wood. I'm a sucker for a red barn.

Black barns do not look nice or appealing. At least the roof and surrounding is not black. Have a great day!

I am a huge fan of black, nut not on a barn. red or white would look good on this one. it is a night barn.

I guess black is OK, but I'd prefer traditional red barns.

What a grand looking farm area. I think I prefer red.

Wonderful photo. I haven't seen one in travels or local. Lots of dilapidated ones in our state, I assume because active farmers have gone to metal buildings. I see a lot of those.

That is one huge barn with quite an expansive roof! I've never seen a black one before. Great find and capture!

I agree with you. Black would not be my favourite color for a barn. I think I would choose red.

That is very nice.

I can't recall ever seeing a black barn before. I'm with you either not painted or painted red is what I like.

I don't believe that I have ever seen a black barn before. Most of them are natural or red. I have seen one blue barn and a couple of white ones, but not black.

I agree with you. Red is a better barn color than black. That is a big one.
