It has been almost a week since I did a post about the cardinals on my
other blog...I wondered if they would actually stay or if the cats would scare them away. Well, I want to tell you that they are still here. If they did not scold the cats and us so much, the cats would not notice them. Roger even feels like the male sits and stares and fusses at him through the window. They even come around to the back of the house to fuss at us still.
The female looks a little bit the worse for wear...if you don't see her just right she appears to have no top-knot...but she does. To me she looks like a bedraggled mom...she looks totally worn out. We are constantly herding cats inside when we see them out there...just because the birds won't rest at all when one is out there.

I hope the Cardinal eggs/babies make it.... Mom and Dad Cardinal should know better than to put their nest so close to your home and CATS.... What were they thinking???? Oh WELL---I hope all works out..
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful birds. I have a pair in my yard but I have never captured them well!
What a neat picture to get the together like that. I hope you will be able to get some baby pics.
You got a fine shot of mom and pop cardinals. It is strange that they were decide to nest so close to people and cats. I hope they make it okay.
Excellent shooting. These are pretty quick birds; I wouldn't be too worried about them.
Wonderful capture of them together. We have a couple here, too, but usually I can only get their photo through a window and then it's very blurry. If we're on the patio, the cardinals (and other birds) will hardly sit still. That's very nice of you to herd the cats indoors when you notice the cardinals. =)
Nice shot of them together!
I think there must be a lot of disease and mites and things that bother Cardinals in this area. Mine tend to look awful this time of year, too. Sometimes they are bald.
