When we were at the Jasper Pulaski Fish & Wildlife area, we did a little bit more driving around. We found gravel pits, and Roger was talking to a young man that was actually lived in the area.

We were at gravel pits, and he pointed out this piece of old machinery that was left behind when the gravel pit closed down.

There was so much brush around, I don't think I would have seen it if he had not pointed it out.

I remember as a kid seeing old machinery on my grandmother's farm in Minnesota. Was always fascinated by those things. Here, too, one has to wonder what it was all used for and why it was left to rust away.
That is one big piece of machinery. I guess it wasn't worth the effort to take apart and move. Great pictures.
What a nice "find" to shoot. I like your close ups that gives us lots of detail even though I can't guess how it worked! :-) The design is so complex it is inherently interesting as a photographic object. Nice one.
As I have said before, it's hard to see what happens when plants close. Sometimes they just walk out and leave it all behind... Kinda sad, isn't it????
Great pictures though... I have NO idea what that big piece of machinery was used for. It was something having to do with gravel I'm sure....????

Betsy
Very nice, well-captured! I love old farm machinery! Evocative!
Mike would like this stuff! Will have to point it out to him. I keep forgetting this blog and am enjoying browsing through the ones I missed.
