Christmas in the rear-view

Christmas has come and gone, but I keep finding Christmas pictures to post. This one I took a few days ago on our snowy drive. They were in an antique shop.

As Tex says, put a fence in front of it....

Just showing a few fences...the one above is almost the same photo as posted for last Friday....but heck, I am posting it anyway cause it shows the barn.
This is from up in Parke County...I like the sign beside the gate.
And this one is a drive-by....it is a barn we pass in coming and going to see Lorelei.

From sunnier days...

We saw this little barn on a drive this month...
and notice the wheels on this.

Still hanging around...

There are always a few leaves that hang on...I don't know if they ever drop off of their on accord. It may take new growth in the spring to force them off.

Barn Charm again....

I forget where this little barn was...
but I sure liked it...it is the perfect size for a studio but looks like it needs a little work.
I am using it for my entry to Tricia's Barn Charm meme. Check out the meme and join if you have a barn...even if it is an old post.

My mind is blank....

My mind is blank for a title for this...
but I liked the way the snow stuck to the side of the trees...

From January 19, 2012

This was taken Thursday on our way home from our little drive...it was snowing so hard for a while. I wonder just how much they eventually got....

Wintry....

I LOVE this clock; it is on the square in Covington, Indiana. A very nice little town....everyone we talked to was so friendly.

Cattle Call for Friday's fences

First an old shot...it may even have been one scanned in...can't remember for sure. I always stop to snap a photo if I can...
And this shot is from today. No snow really collected on their backs, but still a good shot.

Visit Life According to Jan and Jer to show us your fence.

Three

I have not been out and about much lately, so having to rely on the strip pits for my shots.
These are from a couple weeks ago...the evening glow was just beginning to try to start....
but as you can see it it was overcast and didn't have much chance. It was there for just a minute...I think the middle shot shows it.

The whole photo

Just thought I would give you the whole photo from which the header photo was taken. It is one of all time favorite photos. I am not sure if it is such a wonderful shot, so much as it holds so many memories for me. It is scanned from a print, taken in the winter of 1978-79. I do not remember the exact date, but am almost positive it was the snow that took out our power for 3 days. I think I have used it as my header photo on one of my blogs each winter since I began blogging.

Round for Barn Charm....

I will start out by saying that all of these have been shown in previous posts, but don't think I have shown them in Barn Charm....

I thought first about trying to round up all my round barn photos...and I happened across this one while looking for something else. This one is down close to Washington, Indiana.

And this one is from south of here as well, but I couldn't find it if I had to...
Anyway, those are my barns.....
I am not sure what the following would be classified as. I part of the time think they are just for grain storage, but then some days I think there might be a bit more to them.
The top one we seen somewhere in our travels...but I think it is over on the western side of Illinois, but I couldn't swear to it. If I could find where I posted it before, it might tell me more than I know now, but I am running late getting this ready to post, so not taking time to look it up.

The ones below, I could eventually find...
They are over in Illinois, south of U.S. Route 36....east of Tuscola, Illinois...but just where I am not sure. I know I seen the tops of them from the highway...and we went on a hunt and found them. When I spied their roofs from the highway, I thought I had found more round barns...

I was not too disappointed when I found these instead.

I just think they are so interesting...

Anyway, even though they may not technically be barns, I hope you find them of interest.

If you want to see more barns, go see Tricia at Bluff Area Daily.

Post Christmas

We were out and about a week or two into the new year and happened across this....
I am afraid if I waited till next Christmas to post it, I would completely forget it...so I am posting it now.

Starlings at my feeders....

The birds beat a path to the feeders today....if not one kind then another...
before today I think I had only seen one starling out there....
today they came in a flock.

from the archives for Friday's fences...

Even though it is cold and we are getting a bit of snow, I don't think we will come close to getting this much...
And I have probably shown these last year when I first took them, but still like and enjoy seeing them. Though they were both good for Friday's fences.

Sundown

These were taken last year, drive by shots in case you can't tell...taken on our way home from Willow Slough Wildlife area in the northern part of Indiana. It is right next to the Illinois border.

Remember snow?

This was taken January 11, 2011...and here it is a year later and we have hardly seen snow. I am ready for a good snow...there is no better time to take pictures. And I love to be out and about then. We very seldom meet anyone else on days like the one above...can take our time, stop when we want...and for sure no one is going to be speeding by.

Barn Charm from the fall....

I thought I would show these photos from this past October for the weekly barn charm.
I wish I could find some taken at another time...before the vines were growing up the sides.
It was actually not very attractive...but these vines make it appeal to me so much more. It is just too bad that they cause such harm to buildings.

Please visit Tricia and her Barn Charm meme if you want to join or just see more wonderful barns...and believe me there are some that are wonderful. You would think it would get old, but always some place that is so new and beautiful.

Looking through....

I took several pics looking through this Cox Ford Bridge, but this was the only one that turned out half way decent. I have pictures of the bridge over on my Pics & Pieces blog. It spans Sugar Creek in Parke County, Indiana.

Away from the sun....

These geese were flying away from the big strip pit...headed east. I don't know where they were going this late in the day.

Friday's fences

I have hesitated in posting the above photo because of 'thing' right in front of her nose...but decided to go ahead and post it anyway....
then we have this little fellow...isn't he adorable. And he is behind a fence also.
More Long-horned cows....
And then a couple barns...all with fences of one sort or another...all of these came from last fall, except the last and I cannot quite remember when it was taken.
It is a little bit late, but am going to link to Friday' Fences...
