At last....

I had been wanting to go up to the Heron Park for several months.  For a long time all parks in Illinois was closed.  Then with the heat I was avoiding getting Roger out in it.

But this week has been a week of lovely temps and lovely breezes so we drove up there a couple days ago.  I was so glad to see all the Lotus still blooming.

The bad side of all these, they are so tall and so many, I did not see one Great Blue Heron nor any of the swans or egrets we normally see up there.

For me, this is even better than the Heron. We have a lot of them around here, but NO Lotus.

Wow! That's quite a show of flowers. This year has been particularly difficult to get out and about as one would wish.

We don't have these lovely lotus plants, just water lilies. Glad you had some nice temps and got to go out. We are trying to get away to the mountains and cooler temps starting tomorrow, so I will not be able to comment for a few days.

I know that you missed seeing the herons in the bird but to me seeing all these gorgeous water lilies and plants are amazing to me because I've never seen anything like it. I can walk out my door and see those birds you were looking for but we don't have anything like this. Simply gorgeous

Wow so many and look so pretty. Will the plants be thinned out?

they are thick and tall - most of the lilies around here have flat pads that float on the water with blooms skimming just above the surface.
