Roger has been busy for a while now...working on this knife. It would take more time than I have now, and more knowledge than I have without interviewing him to tell the process. All I know is that whether the handle is made of wood, bone, or antler...it really is a process to get it ready. He has them in this old non-working fridge for a month or more beforehand to dry out. The fridge has a 25 watt bulb in it, and it is on all the time.Then he puts them in a jar of polyurethane that has a vacuum on it for 24 hours. Next. they are taken out and put back in the fridge till they dry--usually another two or three weeks. That is just the handle.
But the results are well worth the effort.
He made this one for the son of a friend....and gave it to him tonight. He works where Roger used to work, and like his dad and Roger ....he likes hunting and fishing.
Roger even makes the sheathes.
I really like the finished product....

Roger is very talented. The handle looks like it would be very comfortable to hold. The finish is sooooo smooth and the curve nicely gentle.
The knife looks very good, as well as the sheath it slips into. Does your husband sell these knives, or only makes them as gifts for family and friends?

It's always refreshing to see genuine craftsmanship with reaches such a high, refined state. Beautiful outcome with the carefully molded look of the wood and the rivets(?). What a wonderful gift.
