Just thought I would give you the whole photo from which the header photo was taken. It is one of all time favorite photos. I am not sure if it is such a wonderful shot, so much as it holds so many memories for me. It is scanned from a print, taken in the winter of 1978-79. I do not remember the exact date, but am almost positive it was the snow that took out our power for 3 days. I think I have used it as my header photo on one of my blogs each winter since I began blogging.

The whole photo

That is picture postcard perfection and sure does make a wonderful header.
It's a fine winter scene and excellent composition. At to that is its significance as a reminder of huge snows and times in the past. Very nice picture and post!
The winter of 1978-79 was very rough in the US Midwest. We had the worst blizzards and cold weather that we had ever had before. We had snow emergencies and weren't permitted to drive for several days because it was too cold and the ice was too deep to get the highway maintenance machinery on the streets. Your image is a much nicer memory of that year!
