Look what we saw...

We were leaving the other morn, and there is a stop sign 12 blocks down...I was just glancing to the east before I got to the top of the hill, and I saw something out of the corner of my eye.  Thinking first it was a dead limb out of a tree...by then I was stopped at the stop sign.  And I thought wait a minute...there's no tree.  I looked in my rear-view mirror to make sure no one was behind me  before I backed up.

I said to Roger, Look!  I was looking right into the sun and was hard for me to see...I grabbed my camera and grabbed a quick couple of shots;

The shots are not too terrible considering they were shot looking towards the sun.  Remember to click and expand the view.

There was no one around, but we think the door was open and we figured the owners were inside watching it enjoying the sun.

The remains of a day...

The photos for the previous 4 days and the ones featured here are all from one day...

I thought I might as well feature the robin

As well as these two turtles...in this post.

Add a couple flowers and that completes the rest of the photos I am sharing from that day.

Lotus

Just a few photos Just a few photos

of the always lovely lotus blossoms.

I just simply can't publish only one.

I never tired of seeing them...

They are even beautiful at the end stages of their life...

High and dry....

I should have taken a video of this little guy...he was almost stranded up there.   He was resting there on his belly and his feet could not touch anything.   He had all 4 legs flailing about and almost never got down.

I don't know what he did different, but he finally managed to totter off one side.  For some reason he did not want to enter the water at this point.

He pulled himself back up on the log and proceeded about a foot down the log to slide off the end.  Just want to say I am calling it a 'he' but I really don't know if he is a 'he' or a 'she.'

White feather...

This was near the swan's nest.  I was in hopes it would make a great photo, and I think it works.

The swans....

I assume this one is the dad.....

and here is mama and babies...

Not a very good photo of the mom especially, but you see the two babies.

I wish these were better....but these were the best I could do considering it was the middle of the day.

There were only the two babies...I know they are called cygnets but to me they are babies.

This is the last of the not so great photos....

If I can remember I will be linking with Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'....

Rambler

We came out of a store the other day and this was sitting over from us....I snagged a few shots.
Of course it was the middle of the day, so not great photos.

This car is traveling...I am assuming that it may have a new home...

Notice the license plates on it are Ohio, and the ones on the trailer are from Texas.  Or maybe they are taking it to be worked on....who knows?

I clipped his wings...

I accidentally clipped this dragonfly's wings in this shot...

This is a bit better....

This is a different dragonfly...you can see its smile...

This shot is a stroke of luck....I had my camera zoomed in looking for a turtle and happened to see him.    I couldn't believe my luck.

Long as I can see the light.....

A couple different light fixtures....

They are pretty and I would love seeing them in someone else's home, but not mine.

Hornet's nest....

This was in our crab apple tree a few years ago.  I forget what we did or if we did anything.

From my experience with them at the orchard, they are not aggressive unless they are messed with. as in doing something to make them feel threatened , or if there is a storm coming.

RE the flowers in yesterday's post, special thanks to John at By Stargoose and Hanglands, I now know it is Partridge Pea.

The color yellow...

I ran across these while strolling back through the archives...

I don't think I have ever tried to identify it.  If I am remembering right, if I stroke the stem of leaves, they closed up.

From Bridgeton, Indiana

This door is located in Bridgeton, Indiana(<is a link to some posts with more pics from Bridgeton)...a very small place.  They do not even have a gas station.

Bridgeton does have a roller mill and is one of the main centers of activity for the Covered Bridge Festival every year in October

Wonder what lies beyond?

This was taken in 2010...and even though I know the general area this was taken in, I haven't a clue what lies around the bend.

Featuring photos from Lorelei...

The eagle has landed...for the night.  That is what I say when Lorelei gets here to spend the night.  She came this afternoon, and after her dad left she says oh, Mamaw I got something to show you.  Below are a few from her evening photo session on the drive home from Indianapolis the other night.
Enjoy!

For some of the newer visitors to my blog, Lorelei is my 10 yr. old granddaughter.

A bit grainy but still a fine shot...

I sooooo love this one...

If you don't do it for any other, click to expand the view...she kept apologizing for this above being blurry, but to me it almost adds to it.

Also, keep in mind these are all from her  phone, which I think is just an old phone of her mom's.

I could not have done any better myself.  And the funny thing is, I didn't have to 'straighten' any of them.  Which in the past few years, I have to straighten a lot of my own.

She took this because of the fog/mist rising.  It is one of my favorites.

And below is one from another day.

That is her mom resting on the couch...and look at Lorelei's dog and kitty...both are zonked out.  And the animals do sure love her.

From the flower patch

I think the above would make a pretty header photo....

Almost any time I take time to look, these guys are really busy with the coneflowers.

By the way, all three of these are taken with my phone.  The last two have been cropped.
