Not my headache
I really admire touches like these, or that 'Fairytale House' the other day, I too, would not want to have to deal with the upkeep.

Fairytale house
Whoever built this was talented...what a challenge this would be to built. Any house with a turret makes me think of fairytales.

Little house
I wish we could have paused for a better pic...this is a quick drive-by shot...on a little curvy country road. It was winding enough till you did not dare stop. I always thought this was for kids to wait in to catch the school bus because it is right down at the end of a drive...very close to the road.

Stone
I love the way the natural stone was used here....not something I would have thought would look good with brick. But I think this works.

Log cabin....
This is from Spring Mill St. Park in Indiana. It is the Granny White House, built in Leesville, Indiana in 1824 and moved to Springmill in 1931.

Caught coming and going....
This is a house that I love...I should be able to go right to it but for the life of me, I cannot think where it is. Only that it is north of us. This photo was taken at 2:01 pm on Feb 2, 2011.
This one is on the way home one hour later...what a contrast in color. Notice there are no shadows in the second shot. Both are drive by shots. On both shot I clicked 'I'm Feeling Lucky', and then went to HDRish...yes I am still using Picasa most of the time. I always slide the bars way back compared to what it pops up as.
It is hard to believe there is that much difference in color, but I assure you my original photos show the same difference. It may also do with the direction we are going.

Just a little note first. The road I posted prior to this post...it eventually led to the old abandoned house that was shown before the post of the road....so that road led to that house, and after the house, this barn was this barn. I don't remember exactly where they were, but do know the general area.
Also, not sure how far between the old house and this barn.
I would love to see the inside of it.
And this house probably belongs with the barn...

An oldie...from 2009
As always, I wonder what happened to the family....
I wish this image had been better, but am showing it anyway so you can see the house from another view. I bet it was a real nice house in its day. If I could find it, I would like to see what it looks like now.
Almost like vacant eyes, the windows look out on the world.

Barn and farmhouse....
I thought I featured this barn sometime recently but cannot find the post....either I forgot to label it or just never got around to posting it...but this was take just a few days ago. You can barely see a picket fence on the far side. This was taken as we traveled west. Though it is not really a busy road, I am seldom on it when there isn't a vehicle coming up behind me.
We happened to come back by the farm on the way home, and this is the farmhouse. I think I stopped to take the barn shot, but couldn't stop for these of the house, so you get what you get.
I would love to see inside the house. I wonder if anyone lives there. It definitely needs a new roof.

From 2007
FYI, this house is gone now...
but as far as I know, the barn is still standing.
I used to go by there fairly often, but now am lucky if we ramble by it once a year.
This is one of the smaller covered bridges of Parke County.

This Old House
This is an old home we pass at least two or three times a year...it is on one of my favorite drives.
I paused to take a few pics of it yesterday.
I would love to peek inside but I just somehow never feel right trespassing, even if I don't plan to do any harm.

The sisters....
I call these two the sisters, but think of them as the twins. but they are not quite. The one has windows on the end plus the chimneys are different. Notice the swing still on the porch of the nearest house? Still, they are enough alike to make me think they were built by the same person. And I wonder if they were for siblings. Or maybe parents and child.
I would love to know their history, and know what families lived there.
These photos were taken in 2011...I wonder if the houses are still standing.
I think this barn belonged to the same farm. This was the only shot I managed to get of it.

It's the details...
A farmhouse in Illinois...
Every time I have ever passed it, it always looks just like this.....not a thing out of place.
Everything always looks like it has just been painted,
even all the gingerbread trim. (Can you imagine what a job that is to paint???)

Little House on the Prairie
One of my favorite subject to photograh is this farm over in Illinois....
I might as well give you a couple more views through the years.
