Another beauty

This is another from the archives...from 2007.  It is quite a ways south of us.  Not sure I could find it again, but I do know the general area.

Stitched by hand

I used to sew a lot by hand...and I still like to.  I just don't do it as much.  the above was a cushion cover.

Big Barn

This has been and sit still a beauty, at least in my opinion.

In velvet

Did you ever see a better matched pair?  It might be Comet and Cupid, or Prancer and Vixen...who knows...

Another one gone

I always thought this barn a little beauty.  Imagine my surprise when we passed by a year or two ago and it was just gone.  Not one sign that it had ever been there.

A beauty

I need to take a drive and see if this beauty is still there.   I don't know the exact road, but I do know the general area.

Snow laden

When I was a kid, and there came a fresh snow, I would put on my boots, take the dogs and just go!  To see what kind of tracks we could see, which amounted to rabbit tracks, and maybe bird tracks, and mice.  It was a whole new world..even though I had been over every of acres and acres many times before, it seemed new when it was snow covered.  If the snow was heavy on fence posts, or on  a limb, or just anything, I did not hesitate to take a bite of snow from it.   And we always made snow cream.  I don't think I would do either now.

Short-eared owl

I have not seen one of these owls since 2012!  I would love to know why they stopped passing through.  It was nothing to go out there and see 6 or 8 or 10....that remained during the winter.  Then there were none.  Not one single one.

Round barn

This beauty is not too far from me...maybe 20-25 minutes.  I would love to see inside.

Quilt as you go...

This started out just something to sew without thinking...totally did not think I would like it.    But I did like it. It was finished in 2006.  I named it River of Light.  it was a quilt as you go string block.  the only consistent thing was the yellows, the yellow sashing...and the black strip next to the yellow.  None of it was really measured, so it really surprised me that the black strips came so close to matching up in most cases.

Blushing Golden

Now, I would  have loved to had the plums in the previous post, but wow!  What I would not give to have these.  I have finally found an orchard that has them, but the past two years they did not produce.  I so wish instead of cutting down the crabapple tree I had, that I had grafted these and one or two other varieties on to the tree.

Plums

Taken at the small orchard I used to work at...many moons ago.  I sure would love to have these right now.

Spotted on a snowy day in 2008

I love getting out on a snowy day and just rambling around, but for right now this will have to do for a picture from snowy days.

Peek-a-boo

I could not get a clear shot.  Even though it did not seem to be paying any attention to me, I was afraid to risk getting closer.  I think I would have had the same situation to deal with no matter where I was.

Headed somewhere...

I would love to know how they decide where to go, and when to go.

From today...Thursday

It is actually 2:43 as I get this ready to post tonight.  It has not stopped snowing today and the snow has drifted.   I have not  even attempted to shovel the sidewalks yet.  I figure why bother when it is still snowing.  The young man across the street shoveled his early and now you would never dream it had been cleared earlier.

Seldom captured...

No matter how hard I try,  seldom capture these Northern Harriers in any shape form or fashion.

From the past....

I am scheduling this a day or two ahead...maybe by the time it posts, we might be facing this type of situation.  We shall see.
