2009 photos...

I ran into more photos of the Short-eared owls and cannot resist posting two or three more.

This one is cropped...and so is the one below.

I have been out at the strip pit area a few times this fall late of the evening and have not seen a single one.  And have only seen one Northern Harrier.    A few years ago, there were so many of both you would not believe it if I told you.

But I have seen several deer....this is an old photo, too.  But have seen this many a time or two this fall.

And a late evening view from out there.

These are from a few years ago.

For a few years, they migrated to the strip pit area....I don't think all stayed....but there would be several that stayed during the winter.

This one above was taken in December, 2008...all the rest are taken in either 2010 or 2011'

They swoop over the land at a low altitude.

I think the last year we to see any out there was either the fall of 2011 or 2012

but I live in hope of going out there and seeing them once again.

Just a couple photos this week for Good Fences...

First we have this gate/fence shot taken just a couple weeks ago...

and then we have this.. I have posted a version of it a few years ago. Not the best lighting, but still we can see this Short-eared owl.  Several of them used to come to the strip pit area and spend the winter.   I have not seen a single one out there in over two years, maybe three.

Just for the heck of it, I will throw this one in, too.    I hope you like them....

Drive through the strip pits...

I drove through the strip pits today...once on my way to the quilt shop and then again as I came back home.  I saw several of these short-eared owls.

I thought this was the best shot I got of the short-eared owl last week. You can right-click on it to open it up in another tab in order to be able to view it full sized....I have sized it a big bigger than I normally do. I love the evening light in this one.

I took a short drive to the strip pits the other day....this was the best shot of the short-eared owl in my opinion. I posted more a couple or three days ago on my other blog if you care to go look...
