This was my husband's grandmother's tin that she kept all spare buttons in. To all the children in her neighborhood, she was known as Grammy. I don't think I ever heard her called anything else, except her daughter called her Mother.
I remember playing in my aunts tin of buttons. I'm pretty sure my mom had one as well that she left behind when my parents were divorced. Ours was not as fascinating as my aunts was though and I loved playing in it every time I went to visit.
What a treasured tin of Grammy's buttons. I love old things like this, Rose. It's wonderful that you still have your husband's grandmother's tin. My mom was a good seamstress, so your post hit home for me, thank you.
Love that Tin... we have several of those from my mother in law. She kept every button that came her way. I may have to do a blog post about them sometime. Thanks for the idea. Sue

I love the tin of buttons, I remember my mother/grandmother having one too. Have a great weekend.
I remember those!
She sounded like a lovely lady. What an amazing collection of buttons. Makes for a great photo.
That's how one of my grams were too. She didn't collect buttons but she was never called by her first name. Everyone just saw her as gram.
