Photo shoot of a wet, wet Bald Eagle

On the way home today from Paris, Illinois, we spotted this eagle in this old dead tree out in a pasture...right on the outskirts of town. At first I thought it was a vulture, then I thought, NO!  I seen a white head.  Lucky for me there was a place to pull off the road good.

He (or she??) was a good ways away...I originally thought the length of a football field but now I am not so sure.

It had poured the rain on the way over there....he looks like he was out in it all.

We sat and watched him quite a while...

Doesn't he look sort of sad here?

It never did fly, but we thought we might as well leave and let it relax....

These were all taken with my little Point&shoot camera, and I just could not hold steady, even had trouble when I put it on the monopod...

These pictures are SO good! I cannot believe you had a little camera, and so much trouble. And that he was so far away. They are amazing. He looks mad and miserable.

He does look a little unhappy, but then I would too if I was totally soaked like that. good pictures.

Isn't he/she magnificent, even fresh from the shower and soaking wet. He does look out of sorts in the last two shots. Great shots. I'd be really proud of those!

He looks bored, irritated, sad...but he is probably just thinking about worms! (Or, what do they eat, mice?)

I thinkj this is a fabulous capture. Yes, he does look very unhappy with the water. I think he's depressed! :-)

It's hard sometimes to take pictures of the birds because they're always moving, but you got some good ones here. The Bald Eagle is a grand bird, Rose. So exciting that you came acrossed it one day. : )

Sometimes the best shots are with the little cameras we have with us all the time. Great pictures!

We are seeing more of them each year--- and it's always a pleasure. A weird thing, though. In more than 25 years of living where we do, I've only seen turkey vultures twice--- Both in the last week. I was prompted to check my pulse after seeing a bunch circling overhead.
