Lily pad

I call them lily pads, but is that the correct name for them if they are from Lotus flowers.  Thankfully I don't have to drive an hour now to see them...these are about 10 minutes away...

Wow, you are lucky! There are none around here, and seeing one is a rare occurance. They are lovely, and this is what I call them, too.

It has always been hard for me to get a good picture of Lily Pads, but yours is wonderful!

Those lily pads reminded me of the childhood story of Thumbelina that I used to love - she lived on one for a while :)

Correct name or not, I don't know. I would call them a lily pad. Nice that they are close by so you can enjoy them

Great find captured here! Amazing how they grow and then stop to float at the surface. How do they know to stop? :-) They look large from this PoV.

i did a quick goolge search, just for myself and it looks like lotus leaves are called lotus leaves and lily leaves are called lily pads. lotus is round, lily has a dip in it. but that said you cerainly can call them lotus pads and we will know they are beautiful.

Those are big lily pads and you are fortunate to have them so near your house. We have lotus plants here but I have never seen lily pads that big.

There are so many! They will be so beautiful when in full bloom! The leaves look so large laying flat on the water.

since you corrected me a few weeks ago about lilies and lotuses, I think I should hold you to correct nomenclature! (JK). It is quite a contrast between the flat featureless pads and the rising, opening blooms
