A church

This is a view of the inside of the little church at Billie Creek Village near Rockville, Indiana.  It is a scan of a photo taken probably over 25 years ago.

What is on the backs of the pews; mats for kneeling? But there are some quilts as well. Maybe it is just padding for people's backs. I have never seen this. This is a lovely little church.

In some ways very different from English churches, though the layout and main features are so familiar. It looks as though an exhibition of quilting is taking place in your picture: I've only ever seen one such event in an English church as quilting is not done much here.

It must have been a fairly long time ago since the priest would be facing the alter rather than the congregation. Must have been a quilt show.

What a nice looking church that is. I'm curious about the quilts and blankets on the backs of the pews. That's definitely something you don't normally see in a church.

HOw beautiful and charming this is. I am sorry I have been missing. Covid has been running through my family, even our baby grand daughter. We have been helping with care.

A charming and intimate interior captured in this church! Are those quilts draped over the backs of the pews?

it is a beautiful little church and now i am wondering if they were having a quilt show of if it was winter and no heat in the church and they have those to cover up with during service. we had no heat in our churches, 2 of them much like this and brought our own coats and throws and shawls...

I have the same questions about the quilts. What a beautiful little chapel it is!

Looks like it would be comfortable leaning on the quilts.

I don't think I've ever since the inside of a church in black and white. I am wondering now what religion it is.
