Hummingbird moth

It has been a long time since I saw a hummingbird moth;  even longer since I have seen one not in flight.

Impressive insect. We have a Hummingbird Hawkmoth which is similar - and similarly elusive; it's a long time since I've seen one.

Looks like a cross between a bumblebee and a butterfly! Thanks for letting me see one for the first time!

The ones here don't even look close to this beauty with clear wings!

I'm like Ginny. Other than pictures, I've never seen one. Those wings are simply amazing.

Excellent shot and a detailed capture on the moth!

Oh, how interesting. They don't look very much like the hummingbird. I have a white flowering bush in my front yard, and last Spring and Summer I would see the hummingbird flutter about this bush when I watered it. Very nice photo, Rose. Have a good week.
