What kind of sparrow?

I thought when I first snapped the photo that I was getting a house sparrow....now I don't think so.  My next thought was Chipping Sparrow?  I just really am not sure.

at least you know it is A Sparrow. I only see a small brown speckled bird. and if you told me which sparrow it is, i would forget it as soon as the page closes. senior moments are multiplying

I, too, assumed it was a house sparrow, but it's still a wonderful shot.

I assumed it was a house sparrow too. We don't see too many of those here but at our former home near San Francisco we had flocks of them.
Terrific photo.

To me a sparrow is a sparrow - hard to tell the difference.

Not sure of the type of sparrow either, but a fine close-up you've captured!

It looks more like a chipping sparrow. A beautiful image! They are such cute little birds.

I don't readily recognize them but I have seen and heard them. I will try to memorize your photo now.

You know a lot more about birds than I do. I love your pictures. 😊
