Old Mill Dam

This is the dam that is near the Markle House, pictured a week or two ago. It is the scene of a tragic accident just a few days before this photo was taken. A young man, just 21 one yrs. old decided to go for a swim. He instead took a plunge over the dam, and could not swim away from the force of the water. We had a dam similar to this in our downtown. Recently the dam was removed. The dam used to be a favorite place for people to fish. I always considered it dangerous for the fisherman.

Beautiful dam... Isn't it sad that people can be so stupid when it comes to swimming near the top of a waterfall (or dam)... They should know how powerful that water is...

I was going to make a "dam" joke, but after reading your comment couldn't do it!

The dam is perhaps bigger and more powerful than it looks in the picture...but I know rushing water carries a terrific force. Very sad.
