His wife let out their chickens. She and I sat in a swing and talked and laughed...just watching them.
I so wish I had thought and recorded the sound. Just such a homey sound...even when he crowed it was not at all annoying.

they are really beautiful chickens, I would love to hear the sounds. but not at early am. our neighbor had one that crowed from 2:30 am and half the day. I used to lay in bed and plan ways to murder him... I had no idea they crowed anytime other than daybreak. that was 40 ears ago. excellent photos of these chicks
I loved visiting my grandparents' farm in TN when growing up. Seeing the chickens and other animals was such a thrill. Beautiful images and thoughts. Friendship

Gorgeous critters! For some reason, people leave them at picnic areas to fend for themselves here in NZ when they are tired of them. Fortunately, they adapt quite easily.
